You've stuffed quite a lot on this installment, the delivery is heavy but well worth the reach.

Doubt til it hurts !!

Thanks for writing this, it clarifies a lot. Given your insightful distinction between the router brain and the iteration brain, what practicle heuristics or metacognative strategies would you suggest for cultivating that 'relentless evaluator' mindset in daily AI interactions?

Thanks for the comment! Three heuristics that turned me into a relentless evaluator:

1. Never accept the first answer – force the model to argue the opposite position (“Now defend why Property B is actually the worst choice”). The cracks always show up.

2. One-sentence rule: before I copy any AI output, I have to summarize in my own words why it’s right or wrong. If I can’t, I don’t use it.

3. “Source or STFU” reflex – any claim without a visible source or clear reasoning chain gets an instant “show me the raw data/references this is based on.” Most hallucinations die right there.

Bonus trick: treat every interaction like I’m training a very clever intern who’s eager to please and sometimes lies. My job isn’t to trust. It’s to audit.

Works like a charm and takes <30 seconds extra per prompt.
